This is like a tab dump, but for songs running around in my head. Unlike the "X number of random songs on your iPod" memes, this doesn't have to be the first line of the song--just the ones that are sticking in my head most. Anyone who wants to steal it, feel free. :-)

(in no particular order, and pardon the Backstreet Boys--it's from a fanmix)

1.
This is a song for the unloved
This is the music for one last cry
This is a prayer that tomorrow
Will help me leave the past behind

2.
Girls in tight dresses, who drag with mustaches
Chicks driving fast on bikes with long lashes
Women who long love lust, women who give
This is the way, it's the way that we live and love

3.
What makes you think that
We belong
In a presidential suite
Armed guards in the street
Waving back at crowds who greet?

4.
Truth or consequence, say it aloud
Use that evidence, race it around
There goes my hero
He’s ordinary

5.
This is why we won’t delay for your birthday
Lights and music are on my mind
Be my baby one more time

6.
All my life to sacrifice
Hey oh, now listen what I say, oh

7.
While you're still sleepin' the saints are still weepin' 'cause
The things you call dead haven't yet had the chance to be born

8.
I believe in the kingdom come
When all the colors will bleed into one
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

9.
One with the light of the stars
Woke the firstborn of Iluvatar
One with the trees and the green
Planted all the first seeds

10.
Never wanna see you cry
I don't wanna lose you child
I'll never say goodbye
All I need is to be with you
Somewhere, somewhere we call home

11.
I'll be around
Whenever you need somebody
I'll bring my love to you
You don't have to say you love me

12.
Love and compassion, their day is coming
All else are castles built in the air
(All the children say--We don't need another hero...)

13.
You've been so busy lately that you haven't found the time
To open up your mind
And watch the world swing gently, gently out of time

14.
I don't know you but you know what I am
Hey, I don't need redemption or no government plan
No big AIDS sensation, no 28 clause
The end of apartheid, no message of war

15.
True colors, that's why I love you
Don't be afraid to let them show
(Beautiful, like a rainbow)

I know and hate #15. :) (Well, okay, "hate" is a bit strong. I heard it too many times on the radio and got heartily sick of it, is what.)

#9 is, I think, that one you posted on your LJ a while ago...

(what, no Echo's Children? I'm really good at guessing Echo's Children! :) )

Don't worry, I'm not shy about saying NOT THAT SONG! NOES! when something comes up in a playlist that I can't handle listening to. :) (My family and I have Very Different Musical Tastes, for the most part.)

*hearts your userpic* I love DD's icons. :D

If it's one you got off of youngwizards.com (and ISTR seeing it there), then yes, I believe it's DD who does 'em. She seems pretty good with image software (and other computer stuff too!)

Yay LJ benefactor! :) (I, OTOH, am still sticking with teh free account, but looking more and more longingly at Dreamwidth - which has just gone into closed beta! Another few weeks until their open beta, and I am so there; I think I'll even get a paid account. I'm planning on mirroring my DW posts over here for a while after that, and just locking out LJ comments and directing would-be commenters to the Dreamwidth site. We'll see how that goes...)

(Dreamwidth: like LJ only not run by a big soulless corporation that (naturally, but annoyingly) wants to get its initial unreasonably high investment back. Dreamwidth is run by people who used to be involved in LJ, and it's based on LJ code, only they're actually going to be *developing* the code further (unlike the other LJ clone sites out there), and *not* running it on an ad-based model. And they're running it on a model of...practical idealism. I like all of this very much. Mind you, I don't expect DW will be *significantly* different from LJ at first, barring the lack of ads and the difference in flist setup (they've changed the friends model into one of "people you're watching" and "people you trust to see your locked posts"). But I do expect DW will improve as time goes on, and I also expect LJ is going to continue its slow downward spiral.)

(The thing about LJ that is bugging me the most at the moment? Ads on one's front page. They mess up my banner positioning! And I don't feel like spending hours trying to fix that and *still* have it look okay when I'm logged in and don't see the ads. Ugh.)

(Yes, I could pay them money to Take The Ads Away. But...if I'm going to pay someone money, I'd much rather pay DW than LJ. They need money to cover operating costs, and it's a project I can feel good about contributing to. The difference here is: pay DW because they're providing me with a good service, or pay LJ to take the crappy parts out of their service...it's not that I object to the structure of having "basic" accounts and more fully featured "paid" accounts, but I do object to the basic accounts having features that are actively annoying.)

Rather like LJ back when it was young and earnest and rather less overrun with management idiocy (a process which, to tell the truth, began sometime before Our New Russian Overlords took charge).

...probably round about when it got sold off the first time, right? although Six Apart seemed a little more clueful about the user base, in some ways, than teh Russian Overlords. Or maybe it's just that the Russian Overlords only pay attention to the Russian side of things.

(LJ was, one notes, making enough money before being sold the first time that it could have gone on indefinitely that way. Which is why the Dreamwidth folk figure they can make that model work sustainably.)

At the moment I'm too lazy and entrenched to move, but we'll see.

Heh. Which is pretty much why I don't even have an InsaneJournal account! :) (Or...do I? huh...*very vaguely remembers signing up for one...*) But the fact that DW is actually going to be developing code, plus the fact that I can't see LJ doing anything but getting gradually worse, tipped the balance.

Besides. I can get the username shadowandflame over there. :) (Which I always wanted on LJ, but someone else has it!)

If and when you go, you must leave a forwarding address!

But of course. :) I shall write a post all about it (with my first impressions of DreamWidth, too). And, like I said, I'll mirror posts for a while, and leave a note when I stop doing that.

Er. I meant Dreamwidth, of course. *looks reprovingly at guilty finger that hit the Shift key and capitalized the W*
