My big sister, reading Rivers of London on my recommendation and not necessarily involved in shipping culture, has this to say:

One can certainly see why the fans would think about a relationship between the protagonists. Starting with when they first met -- each thinking the other was cruising for a pickup. And within 24 hours, they are bound by a mysterious oath, involving obedience and dress codes. You'd think the author was playing games with the 1950's movie censers.

Something I hate: Cilantro. Apparently I'm one of the X% who has the gene that makes it taste funny? Mostly I substitute parsley in recipes, which seems to work.

Something I love: Comment culture. I love how a blogger's post can spark conversations among other people in the comments, and I also love when comments on fic turn into long chatty exchanges. I've made some great friends that way. (Plus, you know, even a single comment to say "I liked this because X and Y" makes my day.)

Also cheese, but I just found out I'm lactose intolerant, WOE.

Somewhere I've been: Canada. Well, clearly. I live here. :P But I did spend five years pining for it when I lived in the US, so I think it counts.

Somewhere I'd like to go: Central America. I've been all over a lot of the continental US and Canada, but never south of California (or east of Ontario, actually).

Someone I know: chomiji and credoimprobus. The first through our tiny Cherryh fandom (oh, another C! can I claim to know CJ Cherryh? she answered my Ragi-calligraphy fanmail once) and the second through wrisomifu. Both excellent people. :D

A film I like: Cinderella, the one with Brandy and Whitney Houston and Whoopi Goldberg and Victor Garber and Bernadette Peters. It was just so much fun. Also a favourite film I share with my mom.

A book I like: Cordelia's Honor. The Vorkosigan saga in general, but I do think the earlier books were better--or at least more to my taste.


Also, since every time I saw this on my flist I thought it was an exchanging-snail-mail meme: if you'd like a letter-letter from me at the lighthouse, PM me your address and I'll see what I can do with my latest stash of cute cards. :D
