It made so much sense from the moment rivendellrose and gaslightgallows suggested it that I honestly usually forget it isn't technically canon.

(Marriage in threes being strongly approved of in Minbari culture IS, though...)

Everything else is indeed in threes! And even after they redid her makeup post-pilot, Delenn looked pretty nonbinary to me. It just really does seem like a missing piece of canon.

Like, it is a great worldbuilding detail, so obviously plausible! But also I just found it so riveting and so satisfying to think about. And then so annoyed that I couldn't be one... 😜

(Especially the part where the not-male-or-female people have their own unique body plan that exists distinct from cis men and cis women (there'd be cis third-sex people, so to speak), and where this has been true from time immemorial and it's not even slightly an issue whether they and their gender are real or not. I might describe their biology differently now if I were writing them, but that also doesn't matter nearly as much to me as that they get to have a body that was never AMAB or AFAB.)

((And you would get Ft3 or 3tM Minbari, too, honestly! But I just, the idea of just casually being cis-something-not-female-or-male charmed the fuck out of me.))

(I always also wanted to write more about the experience of being a third-gender, third-sex Minbari and then going among other races and being gendered male or female according to binary cultures' assumptions. Which, again, ohai eggself? Lol.)
