I haven't actually read this book yet, but -- right! Yeah! If you want to criticize Bujold's focus on kids and reproduction in the series, okay. But Cordelia as a character has been extremely consistent in wanting a large family -- it was a large part of why she even went to Barrayar in the first place! -- and if it's a dream she was obliged by circumstances to set aside for the same of her son (then sons), it was still a dream of hers all along. Of course that's a thing she'd choose, given the chance.
