I need to reread this and see how it comes across now that I know that all the plotty elements that are trailed are red herrings. I've been rereading the whole series and this is the only one I haven't got to yet and I need to give it another go.

With all the babies, well, if I had a uterine replicator and an awful lot of domestic help then I might be tempted to have six children too. Nine would be a bit much for me, but then my grandmother was one of sixteen, so nine's not that outrageous a number.

I wish we'd seen something of Aral's transition from having a ton of infidelity issues to being happy with a poly relationship. I had no problem believing Cordelia would be fine with it, it's how Aral got there that intrigues me.

And the Sergyaran flora and fauna were lovely, it was great getting to see the planet again. I think that was what I liked best of the book on my first read, all the fun worldbuilding stuff and the adventures of a growing planet. I shall give it another try and see how it looks.
