Yes! I loved the part where the most common language at the time was totally different, and it adjusted both over time and because everyone wanted to copy Valen. Which of course was a time loop like everything else to do with Jeff's life. :P Also that Catherine's quick-and-easy telepathic acquisition of language at the beginning was actually just a setup for more difficult language learning later on.
