Read a whole bunch of Power Girl before I left for town, and OMG I love her so much. :D I mean, I love Kryptonians in the first place, and I love her sense of humour, and I love her no-nonsense approach to everything from interdimensional identity angst to how people react to her big boobs. She's just so much FUN and so relatable. While punching evil in the face. SO GREAT.

(I've come to the conclusion after googling Power Girl cosplay the other night that if you're posing for cosplay pics as PG without a big grin on your face, or if you're playing her as a sex kitten because of the boob window, you're doin' it rong. I am pleased to note that most of the Power Girl cosplayers I found were doing it with enthusiasm and biceps and YAY. Excellent. :D)

Is there a graphic novel title for Power Girl that you would suggest starting with?

Ooh, let me check and get back to you. I've only really read one run of stories, but I read a couple of trades that kind of overlapped? Like, one of them contained the stories from two of the others, so when I got to the others I was like, "Oh hey I already read this. :(" So I think they must have released them in several formats.

Anyway, I'll check what titles would give you the whole set of stories that I read, though! Possibly tomorrow if that's okay. :)

Okay, I think what you want is:

Power Girl Vol 1: A New Beginning (issues 1-6)
Power Girl Vol 2: Aliens & Apes (issues 7-12)
Power Girl Vol 3: Bomb Squad (isues 13-18)
Power Girl Vol 4: Old Friends (issues 19-27)

The first two volumes are also collected along with JSA Classified issues 1-4 as Power Girl: Power Trip, so if you get that one you can skip directly to Vol 3: Bomb Squad.

She's also appeared occasionally in Supergirl (because of her relationship to Supergirl, as basically an AU version of the same character), but I only read one of the Supergirl ones that had her in it, and the art was kind of awful so I wouldn't recommend it for PG. But hopefully you'll enjoy the above! She's just so spirited, by which I don't mean she's never upset, just that all her feelings seem so genuine. Also, you know, socking bad guys inna face. :D

I just looked at book depository, and they're all out of print, boo! :(

Will have to decide whether or not to deal with the hassle (and postage costs) of AbeBooks for 2nd hand books

Oh, boo. :( Mucca had the first one or two, and I got the others from our library (books by mail). I didn't think to check if they were still in print or not.

Makes buying books *so much more affordable*.

Especially in Australia, where imported graphic novels in bricks and mortar stores are super-pricey.

I just checked Book Depository myself, in case they had Vol 4 (which I haven't yet read), and found these:

Power Girl: Power Trip

Power Girl: Bomb Squad

That's Vol 1&2 (plus bonus stuff) collected in Power Trip, and Vol 3 = Bomb Squad. Hopefully they show up when you view them from Oz?

Meanwhile, Googling tells me Vol 4 is actually not as satisfying as the others (there's a plot arc that we only get half of because the rest of it took place in some other title, despite being about Power Girl). So maybe we're not missing much there...

but then a week or two later I got an email that they'd come back in stock, and I ordered them.
