Ask me for a letter and I'll give you one. Then you can fill out these questions on your own blog.

[personal profile] muccamukk gave me "C"

Something I hate: Cilantro. Apparently I'm one of the X% who has the gene that makes it taste funny? Mostly I substitute parsley in recipes, which seems to work.

Something I love: Comment culture. I love how a blogger's post can spark conversations among other people in the comments, and I also love when comments on fic turn into long chatty exchanges. I've made some great friends that way. (Plus, you know, even a single comment to say "I liked this because X and Y" makes my day.)

Also cheese, but I just found out I'm lactose intolerant, WOE.

Somewhere I've been: Canada. Well, clearly. I live here. :P But I did spend five years pining for it when I lived in the US, so I think it counts.

Somewhere I'd like to go: Central America. I've been all over a lot of the continental US and Canada, but never south of California (or east of Ontario, actually).

Someone I know: [personal profile] chomiji and [personal profile] credoimprobus. The first through our tiny Cherryh fandom (oh, another C! can I claim to know CJ Cherryh? she answered my Ragi-calligraphy fanmail once) and the second through [ profile] wrisomifu. Both excellent people. :D

A film I like: Cinderella, the one with Brandy and Whitney Houston and Whoopi Goldberg and Victor Garber and Bernadette Peters. It was just so much fun. Also a favourite film I share with my mom.

A book I like: Cordelia's Honor. The Vorkosigan saga in general, but I do think the earlier books were better--or at least more to my taste.

Also, since every time I saw this on my flist I thought it was an exchanging-snail-mail meme: if you'd like a letter-letter from me at the lighthouse, PM me your address and I'll see what I can do with my latest stash of cute cards. :D

You should figure out this cheese issue prior to the grocery order on Wednesday.

Speaking of C books by Buljold, you should get around to Curse of Chalion.

I just did a blitz of Vorkosigan on audio start to finish. Then I went on to Challion and am halfway through Paladin of Souls. Excellent stuff!

I read Chalion first, but have it on Audio as well, and need to listen again. I love it so much.

I'm currently stalled out on Vorkosigan. I got up to Memory, I think, and then haven't gotten around to reading the rest after that. I mean to! I just have library books.

I'm liking Paladin even better than Challion because Ista is such an excellent character.

I lucked out with the Vorkosigan saga. When Cryoburn came out, Baen offered the whole saga as e-books for free if you bought the Cryoburn download. Such a deal! And they are all formats and DRM-free so I can read them where I like. The audiobooks are another type of experience; Blackstone Audio is so good I'm looking for anything they publish (via Overdrive--I use the library pretty exclusively for audio).

Memory is one of my favorites. The whole concept--Who are you without your memories? Who are you if you never ever forget any memory? Bujold deals a lot in identity as a theme. Some of the later Vor books are somewhat self-indulgent but by that time I was so invested in the characters I read them anyway. Cryoburn was better the second time around, I will say, and it made me cry which is unusual for her books.

I read them out of order, reading Paladin first, and I really should go through them the other way, as I didn't quite have the hang of the mythology the first time around.

Baen's so great for e-books. That's how I got them as well.

I probably won't do all of Vorkosigan as audiobooks, as I'm not into the series enough to go through the whole thing twice, but I've also liked Blackstone. Depressingly, my library has gotten sucked into the Hoopla thing, which does me no good as it only streams on PCs, and I can't stream out here, but they still have overdrive for some stuff.

Oh no, condolences on the lactose intolerance. Can you take the pills for it so you can still have cheese sometimes?

Comment culture! The single thing I most miss over on the Tumblr.
